Police Pay Calculator 2026-27

The Home Secretary announced a 3.5% consolidated increase for all ranks and pay points up to chief superintendent, taking effect from 1 September 2026 (written statement HCWS264, 15 July 2026). The determination setting the new pound amounts has not been published, so the calculator uses the scales currently in force rather than an estimate of what each point will become.

Yes. Choose the Metropolitan Police or City of London Police and the calculator adds London Weighting of £3,150, which is pensionable, plus the London Allowance, which is not. The London Allowance is set by the Commissioner up to a maximum of £6,588, so edit the amount if your force pays less. Inspectors and Chief Inspectors also move onto their higher London pay points.

The scales in force, determined with effect from 1 September 2025 by Home Office circular 011/2026 under regulation 24 of the Police Regulations 2003 — still the latest amending determination. The same applies to London Weighting and the London Allowance. Every figure is taken from the determination itself, not calculated by applying the announced award to last year's scale, because the Home Office sets the rounding of each pay point.

No. London Weighting is a pensionable addition to pay, so it attracts a member contribution and counts towards pensionable earnings. The London Allowance is non-pensionable — it is taxed and subject to National Insurance and student-loan deductions, but no pension is taken from it.

As soon as the Home Office publishes the circular amending Annexes F and U from 1 September 2026. The Police Remuneration Review Body recommended 3.9% and published an indicative scale on that basis, but the government awarded 3.5%, so the PRRB's pound figures are not the ones that will apply. Until the determination is made, no published pound amount exists for the new scale.

The 2026 structure uses three salary tiers and full or reduced member rates. The scheme normally assesses the tier using actual pensionable pay in the previous scheme year, so a current-salary estimate can differ after promotion or changed hours.
