How this calculator uses Ofgem data

Every rate is derived from Ofgem's official Annex 9 nil-consumption and benchmark charges for 2,500 kWh electricity and 9,500 kWh gas, then includes domestic VAT at 5%. The result is an annualised estimate even though this cap period lasts three months.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Ofgem price cap limit my total bill?

No. It caps unit rates and standing charges on default tariffs. Your bill still rises or falls with energy use.

What period does this calculator cover?

It defaults to the Ofgem cap in force, 1 July to 30 September 2026, and includes 5% VAT. The calculator can also price any other published cap period.

Are fixed tariffs covered?

No. A fixed tariff has contract rates. Compare those rates directly with the capped unit rates and standing charges.
